Fresh Pressed
Today I drove to Hollywood to get a few things for my trip to Manhattan. No, not a hot new outfit, I will wait until I am in Soho or on Madison Avenue to spend my dollars. Instead, I went to Fresh Pressed, an awesome new ‘Do It Yourself’ silk screen shop. I recently read an article about this place in Ready Made magazine. Fresh Pressed open for business in December of 2007 and the place is pumping. Its a one stop shop where you can imprint your own screen print. Their team designers help you in art direction, burning screens and squeegee lessons. Now, when someones tells you that they like what your wearing you can tell them “thanks, I made it!”
Being that Jase and I are going to the Late Show next week, I though it would be hilarious if I made a T-shirt which says “Letterman for President 08.” The Presidential race has been the main topic of Dave Letterman’s monologues lately and the Top Ten lists have all been about Sarah Palin.
Jonathan, the owner of Fresh Pressed, was more than helpful when I emailed him about going to New York and my idea for a T-shirt. I googled a few pictures of Dave, but I still wasn’t sure which one would be right, but Jonathan assured me that his crew could help once I got there.
The shop was well organized with screen printing stations and an art design area. There were plenty of inks and T-shirts to choose from. Nick, a Fresh Pressed team designer, was a great help. We laid out the five pictures of Dave I collected and decided which would work best. What a fun process, I could have spent all day there. I love creating/making things.
I can’t wait to sport this T-shirt at the show. Hmmm, I wonder if Dave would sign it?
