Friends, Your Biggest Supporters
These past few months I have immersed myself in Final Cut Pro, a movie editing program I recently purchased. I got the “bug” per say once I started working on two little movie clips earlier this year, ‘Visiting Jordan’ and ‘Palm Springs Birthday Party.’ I used iMovie to make the movies because it was already installed on my computer. I instantly realized that I knew this free program wasn’t gonna cut it and that I needed and wanted more.
Regina is one of my biggest supporters, as soon as I tell her of a new interest she is right at work sending me information, internet links, magazines etc. that she thinks I might need. So when I told her that I wanted to learn Final Cut Pro she hooked me with their friend Jurgen whom I had met before at some dinner parties. Jurgen, a former professor at Brooks Institute, taught Final Cut Pro, other media classes and is a documentary film maker.
While Brooks was not in session Regina’s husband Scott, who happens to be the Program Director of Professional Photography at Brooks, thought it would be a good idea to take advantage of the empty classrooms and gather some close friends and colleagues to have a private Final Cut Pro class.
In total there were four of us. Darlene, Jurgen’s wife joined in the fun. Darlene also wants to make documentaries films herself. Honestly, I felt a bit like an impostor since I have no connection to Brooks. We had a great time and learned lots of great things. Of course after “class” we had to stop over at Dargan’s Pub since it was right next door for a pint, a round of darts and a game of pool.
